From lighting control in the home to remote access with tablet PCs or smartphones and SMS alerts, the LOGO. logic module series has already convinced many users with its simple design and handling. With LOGO. 8, Siemens' Industry Automation division is launching a completely new generation of devices. All LOGO. 8 basic units now offer communication via Ethernet, enhanced functionality for remote operation and access through a web server, as well as easy project planning of communication functions via drag and drop. The compact design of 72 millimeters (4 TE) saves space in the sub-distribution board. The six-line display, with 16 characters per line and three controllable background colors, provides clear operator information with distinct signal colors. The six-line external text display with 20 characters per line additionally features four function keys and connects to the basic unit via Ethernet. A LOGO. 8 can be expanded as needed with seven digital, three analog, and various power modules for power supply. For building Ethernet networks, there is a switch module, and for alerting and remote control via SMS, a new LOGO. 8-CMR module. This module can also determine the position and perform automatic time synchronization via the GPS channel. Monitoring and controlling LOGO. 8 via WLAN and the Internet is particularly easy for users with the integrated web server. Web pages displaying the LOGO. and the external text display can be accessed through all common web browsers on PCs, smartphones, and tablet PCs. Setup is done using the LOGO. Soft Comfort V8 software without any knowledge of HTML programming. The LOGO. 8 is connection-compatible with previous versions. Programs can be imported into LOGO. Soft Comfort V8 and easily expanded.
