Positioning/Cam module SIMATIC S7-300 FM351/2. The FM 351 positioning module is used for controlled positioning with drives for high lateral speeds and slow feed in the S7-300 automation system. The module features 2 independent channels, allowing it to control one rotary and one linear axis simultaneously. It supports an incremental encoder or an absolute encoder (SSI) for each channel. Multiple FM 351 positioning modules can be operated simultaneously and can be combined with other FM/CP modules. A typical application would be the combination with an electronic cam controller of type FM 352.

The module is dual-axis, with axis types including linear axis and rotary axis. It provides four digital outputs per axis and four digital inputs per axis. Typical drives/motors are standard motors – relay-controlled, standard motors with frequency converters (e.g., Micromaster), and asynchronous motors on power sections with vector control.

The position measurement systems include 5 V incremental encoders, symmetrical, 24 V incremental encoders, asymmetrical, and SSI absolute encoders.
