The Modicon modular safety controller XPSMCM allows for easy configuration of safety applications and flexible expansion of the system with modules according to the application. This central unit (CPU) of version 1 is the basic module required for any safety system in machines and plants. The processing of the configured safety application takes place within the CPU. It features 8 safe digital inputs, 2 safe OSSD output pairs, and 2 status outputs. Up to 14 expansion modules enable a total connection of up to 128 safe inputs and 16 safe output pairs, 32 signaling outputs, as well as speed monitoring. An optional fieldbus extension allows for diagnostic communication with the connected PLC. Optionally, a memory card with the stored configuration can be inserted on the back of the module. The achievable safety level is PL e in category 4 or SIL 3. LED indicators provide status messages for the system and for each input and output. Configuration is performed by the user with the freely available software SoSafe Configurable via USB connection from a PC.
