Optical Construction

Due to years of expertise in lens construction, the development of a 20mm full-frame lens was only a matter of time. The Samyang 20mm F1.8 ED AS UMC is equipped with the best optical technology that Samyang has to offer. The wide-angle lens is coated with Samyang's signature Ultra Multi Coating. The combination of this coating, two aspherical glass elements, and three "Extra-Low-Dispersion glasses" minimizes chromatic aberrations and prevents unsightly light scattering. The glass construction consists of 13 elements divided into 12 groups, ensuring sharp images from the center to the edges.

Seven aperture blades provide an almost circular bokeh at wide open aperture, while closing the aperture reveals crystal-clear, star-shaped lights. The lens is compact and robustly built, making it an ideal companion even in rougher conditions.
