Product details

The OM4 fiber is a 50 µm optimized fiber with extended bandwidth. It is used to enhance system performance for existing 1 and 10 Gb/s applications as well as future 40 and 100 Gb/s applications. The OM4 fiber supports Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and OIF applications for longer distances of over 550 m at 10 Gb/s and for extremely long building backbones and medium-length campus backbones. With an effective modal bandwidth (EMB, also known as laser bandwidth) of 4700 MHz-km, more than double the IEEE requirement for 10 Gb/s at 300 meters support, the OM4 fiber is also particularly well-suited for shorter distances in data centers and for high-performance computing applications.
