You need POE 48V according to 802.3af for UAP-AC-PRO.
UAP-AC-LR and UAP-AC-Lite needed passive POE 24V and later generations became 48V compatible.
If you have a Unifi switch then you can set this on the port.
Hello Robpors613
I see version 5.10.20 under Cloud Key Controller. Under Cloud Key Firmware, another very long version was displayed. I ran the update on this one and then it automatically installed version 5.10.20 as well.
Greetings, Guido
The IEEE 802.11b standard is outdated and would have given you a transmission speed of up to 11 Mb/s. The successor 802.11g gives you speeds of up to 54 Mb/s. The successor 802.11g allows speeds of up to 54 Mb/s. Read here: https://www.ip-insider.de/was-ist-80211b-a-605754/
Yes, but the feature is well hidden.
You can find it in the app under:
More -> Settings -> Wireless networks -> [Your WLAN] -> Schedule WLAN -> Activate (enable) scheduled WLAN.
Then you can define one(!) switch-on and one (!) switch-off time per day. Sexy is different :)
No single get dad night. You need a UNIFI Cloud key and then a number of UNIFI Access Points. The power can be supplied with a POE switch. This is best done by UNIFI or with the POE power supply that is supplied with each access point ordered individually. It is best to buy the Starter Set 3x AP 1x Cloudkey and 1x POE UNIFI switch.
I only use my controller on Linux and Java is required there. I assume this will also be the case for the Windows and Mac versions.
Since the beta of version 5.7.x, Java 8 or higher is also required.
What is meant by house modem? Presumably the "home modem" is now already a router. (e.g. from UPC). The AccessPoint can be connected to it. The power supply unit is included in the package.
You could try changing the Wi-Fi name and password of the Swisscom router to the same as the Unifi ap and then unplug the Unifi ap. Then connect the TV box to the Swisscom router, unplug the TV box, switch off the WLAN of the Swisscom router again and switch on the Unifi ap again. Then the Swisscom TV box should connect to the ap. Can't guarantee that it will work. Greetings Nils and please tell me if it works.
This AP needs a LAN connection to your router. With the injector that comes with it, at least you don't have to install a power supply near the AP, as the required power is transferred via the LAN cable.
Good morning
I have a CloudKey and 2 ap ac-pro in use in my network and everything works fine so far but...
When I log on to my controller it works fine and there it tells me every time that there is a new software 5.10.20 available and I can download it but I can't find a way to apply the update.
via the settings and maintenance there is only the button to search for new firmware and nothing more. how should i proceed to apply the update? as i understand it, without this update 5.10.20 i will not be able to obtain future updates for my two ap ac-pros.
thanks any help
I put one of these UniFi AP AC-PROs into operation for the first time today and I'm already very happy with it. :-)
UniFi software version 5.9.29
AP Software 4.0.10.9653
But I still have one or two new user questions that someone with knowledge can help me with.
- Can I look at the current time on this AP somewhere or see whether an NTP server is entered for the time? I could only set the time zone during setup.
- What do I have to consider if I want to put another AP like this into operation in my house to expand my WiFi? Do you have any instructions on how to do this?
- I keep reading about band steering and have found some information about it on the Internet, but where exactly do I set this in my AP? I currently have the software set to German.
- I would also like to rename my AP because the MAC address is currently inside. In the settings I found the Controller section and renamed it accordingly, but in the UniFi Software overview this is not changed. Am I missing something? Or what am I doing wrong?
Many thanks for your support
Greetings
Hello,
- For NTP it is under Settings -> Services -> NTP
- Not sure if I understand well your question about adding another AP in your house, the installation of the second AP is similar to the first one
- For Band Steering it is under Site -> Services -> check "Enable advanced features" Then under Device select the AP -> Configuration -> Band Steering
- To rename an AP under Devices -> select a Device -> Config -> Alias (put your desired name)
Hope it will help
Hello together
I have moved into a new building with a fibre optic connection and had to install the Sunrise Internet Box in the power distribution box. In the flat there are 2 Ethernet cable connections in the living room and bedroom. The Sunrise Box was successfully connected to these connections. The Internet TV box is connected to one of these connections.
Do I understand correctly that I have to connect this product to one of these Ethernet cable connections in order to have a better WLAN signal in the room?
Hello,
Yes you can do it but it seems to me less interesting than exploiting the capacity of the Unifi management.
I explain, Unifi has a management console for all these devices and a Wi-fi transport mode that your router does not have and that you will not be able to manage by Unifi. Better to use your unifi device(s) with the Unifi server:
https://community.ubnt.com/t5/Upcoming-Products/UniFi-server/td-p/2044620
Otherwise a simple Wi-fi relay will be sufficient and less expensive than a Unifi antenna.
Have a nice day.
Hellouu
I think you underestimate it a bit :-)
To connect the 5 devices you might need another switch so that you have enough connections.
I recommend that you always connect a PC via cable, as long as it is feasible. (If necessary, also at the switch)
You can distribute the remaining APs in the building, whereby you also have to connect them with a cable. (Other solutions such as "MESH" are not recommended).
POE injector is simply a type of power supply. You could also save this by using a POE switch.
Don't forget the software (free of charge) and configuration of the devices!
