Yes, always used SanDisk, never a problem.
Should be, I've tested it with both Sony cards and Delkin cards. The CFExpress specification is well defined, so should work in principle, at least with major brands.
My Sony device mentioned above was delivered with a USB-3.1 cable, as I do not yet have USB-C on my laptop. For later use with a USB-C connection, I would have to use an additional adapter.

I have Lexar XQD cards (2933X) from my Nikon D500. These now also work in my Nikon Z7. I bought the card reader because it is compatible with both XQD and the new CF Express cards. The Sony reader worked perfectly with the Lexar XQD cards.
