We forwarded the question directly to Samsung and received the following answer:
We, Samsung, offer 3 years standard warranty for the Odyssey OLED G8.
If there is a problem with burn-in, we will also replace the panel.
I hope that helps you.
According to my research and the manufacturer's specifications, the differences are as follows:
Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 - G85SB This model has 1x MiniDP, 1x MicroHDMI and 2x USB-C, as well as a glossy display surface
If you meant this model: Samsung Odyssey G8, 3440 x 1440 pixels, 34" This one has 1x DP, 2x HDMI, 2x USB-A and a connection for the USB hub, the display has a matt coating
Otherwise I couldn't see any differences, they consume slightly different amounts of power.
The main difference between the two models could be the specific functions and the model number. The model "LS34DG850SUXEN" and the "G85SB" have similar specifications such as the Display resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 175 Hz. However, the "G85SB" might have different connectivity options or regional differences in warranty or design. Here are some possible differences:
- Model number and availability: the model numbers are different, which could indicate regional or specific trim levels.
- Warranty terms: Warranty terms could vary by region, especially regarding protection against screen burns.
- Connectivity: There could be differences in connectivity options, such as the number of USB-C ports or support for certain VRR technologies.
There is no 3.5mm jack on this monitor. For audio output, you'll need to use the built-in speakers or connect an audio device via another method, such as an adapter or external audio system via USB-C or another connection available on your computer.
The screen is suitable for office work as it offers plenty of room for multitasking and has a curved shape that keeps the edges in view. However, there are issues with text clarity due to the sub-pixel layout and a risk of burn-in on static elements. It is also suitable for gaming on the PS5, but does not offer support for ultrawide gaming on the console.
For daily office use of around 9 hours, the risk of burn-in could be a problem if you often have the same static elements on the screen. However, there are functions such as OLED Safeguard to help prevent burn-in.
Go to the main menu, in the centre should be a source called PC (it looks almost like a TV channel: a square), if you select this it should work.
Alternatively, you can specify the channel by scrolling all the way down, and in the bottom menu should be the name of the cable. I know that's not a good explanation, I'm going from memory!
If you can't, write to me again and I'll try to give you more specific instructions.
In any case, it took me a moment to find it too... that shows how good the interface is....
This is due to the fact that the monitor exceeds the necessary requirements such as weight and dimensions, so we are forced to offer the monitor exclusively via shipping. We ask for your understanding.
Should be a suitable one yes, but note that one is already included in the scope of delivery, you don't need to buy one separately unless it has to be longer or shorter. An adapter is also included.
