I connected the station to a powered USB hub, which works very well, otherwise, as far as I know, you could also charge the headphones directly with a micro-USB cable.
It is possible to connect the A50 to the PS4 and the PC at the same time - as far as I can remember, the Astro A50 must also be connected to the PC via the AUX connection of the A50 charging station. This also works with the simultaneous use of the microphone. In any case, you can find a solution on Youtube.
Is correct I have it like this and even the 3D audio works the A50 is the ultimate anyway and I can recommend it to everyone and it is worth the money.
Hello, I am a customer of the headphones, yes the 2019 version is the 4th version of the headphones. I can assure you that it is great for your hearing experience. Best regards and happy new year :)!
As far as I know, you need the base unit from Astro for the Xbox. There is the Astro A50 version Xbox/PC or PS4 PC. You only need to order an adapter when switching to the PS5, as the PS5 no longer has an optical output.
The only thing I know is that they have improved the "headset recording", many have the problem that the headset does not charge properly when placed on the station and you have to move it several times or charge it via micro usb.
The quality of the headset is great, only the above-mentioned shortcoming is annoying, and this should be fixed with the new version.
Battery lasts a long time, I would say around 10 hours.
If you forget to charge it, it can also be charged via micro-usb, e.g. with a powerbank.
No, no more cables to the Xbox controller as previously necessary on the 360. USB and optical cable to the Xbox One and that's it.
I am absolutely satisfied with this product. For example, you can locate the steps of the opponents in Call of Duty (WW2 and BO4) very well.
For me it goes for about 1-1.5 hours, mostly I leave my PS4 in sleep mode, let it charge and then use it for the whole week without having to charge it.
Hello Andri,
The easiest option would probably be to upgrade the PC with a sound card that has an optical audio output.
This is also available as a USB sound card:
StarTech 7.1 Channel USB Sound Card
Greetings
You will need a micro USB cable and an optical cable to connect to the PS4. Connect the micro USB cable to the base station and the PS4, connect the optical cable between the base station and the PS4, set the base station to PS4 mode and select "USB headset" as the output device in the PS4 audio settings.
The battery life is not specified in the data provided. Typically, gaming headsets of this type last between 10-15 hours, depending on usage.
Hello Community
I have a question about the Astro A50. I've had mine for a while, it's not the 3rd generation. It has been working perfectly with the PS4 for 3 years.
Now I would like to connect it to my PC. Unfortunately, it only has a 3.5 mm mic jack and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
The Astro only has an optical audio connection. Can I now connect the headset to my PC with an adapter (Y-cable from mic-jack and audio-jack to optical audio connection)? And listen to the sound and use the MIC at the same time?
Or is that the wrong approach? Or is there another possibility?
Kind regards
Andri Locher
No, the product "A50 (Wireless)" with the manufacturer ID "939-001676" from Astro Gaming is not the same as the Astro A50 Gen 5. Here are some differences:
- Connection technology: The "A50 (Wireless)" uses Radio Frequency (RF) for wireless transmission, while the Astro A50 Gen 5 uses LIGHTSPEED Wireless and Bluetooth 5.0.
- Connectivity: The "A50 (Wireless)" has connections such as digital audio out and jack 3.5mm, as well as a micro USB 2.0 charging input. The Astro A50 Gen 5, on the other hand, has USB-C ports for connecting to different platforms.
- Compatibility: Although both headsets support multiple platforms, the Astro A50 Gen 5 offers specific USB-C ports for Xbox, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch, which is not the case with the "A50 (Wireless)".
These differences indicate that they are different models.
