Linksys Velop Tri Band
Hello Yes, this should work, the app can accept and manage different Velop routers. Greetings
Why do you want a bridge function for it - then you forego 90% of what makes this router? Then you'd be better off buying a pure access point. Much cheaper and almost guaranteed to have a less cumbersome web interface.
Have connected them via switch. It has been running flawlessly for more than two years.
Yes, that works. I have a LAN cable to the basement and have plugged a node into it. This way the node communicates via LAN with the main node and offers WIFI internet in the basement. Just plug it in ;-)
I have a gbit cablecom connection and velop manages almost 300 mbit in parallel via wifi to three receivers. i only have a cable connection in the basement where there is an access point as an extension of the mesh network which networks the ps4. of course i only have the ps4 wifi connection that i can test and there the results are also around 300 mbit. unfortunately i have never tested direct cable. from a mu-mimo point of view, however, i can say that the part is convincing. BUT... i have to restart the network every 1-2 weeks. it could very well be due to one of the 50 or so devices i have networked, but i can't say for sure.
Don't you have an access point on every floor? Mesh wifi does not improve the wifi. If you have a LAN, I wouldn't go for mesh. I had the Velop Mesh and sent it back to Digitec. At the time the LAN connection didn't work. I bought the Ubiquiti Starter Set and it works perfectly.
Unfortunately, we don't have any more information on this yet, but as soon as we know more we will be happy to update this here.
Wifi calling works perfectly for me with the iPhone and the Linksys Velop. Even when switching the Wifi signal between the different routers, the connection is not interrupted.
You can connect the routers to your modem. The routers have no function to connect directly to the port in the wall.
The wired ethernet port is a Gigabit port. Bandwidth for 2.4GHz radio is max. 400Mbps and for 5GHz radio 867Mbps. This means, that only on the WAN node (Internet in) you will enjoy up to 1Gbps on the wired port. Due to the fact, that the Nodes are wireless connected to each other 1Gbps will not reached on the other nodes (see Bandwidth above). I do have a 500Mbps line and have constant WiFi coverage throughout 3 floors (3 nodes connected) with Bandwidth between 50 and 150Mbps (WiFi) Hope this helps
Many thanks for the message! It has now been adjusted :)
You can find the original question here (just wait until someone answers it): https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/QuestionAndAnswer/kann-ich-beide-teile-als-nodes-verwenden-will-sagen-kann-ich-meinen-swisscom-routerserver-belassen-u-70803
That would be Bridge Mode. The manufacturer of Linksys says that this is supported. I have problems with DHCP. In Bridge mode you can see that the Velop DHCP is active. This is an error and perhaps also a reason why it doesn't work properly. Partly I see on my Android mobile "obtain ip address" and it doesn't work. After a few minutes it works. Just google Velop & DHCP problems & bridge mode. I'm sure it will be solved eventually. :-(
With the new firmware, the Velops can also be used as access points ,making this possible.
Hello Christophjans, The manual says nothing about this. However, it is indeed possible, but must first be set up via radio, as described on http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=217442. However, mesh routers do roam. So you should set the same SSID in all stations. Then you can move around with your mobile device in the entire area covered by the radio and seem to always be in the same network. Works great! My purchase recommendation. Greetings Cherubjk
I had the same problem and contacted Linksys support after trying several times. The error was due to the fact that not everything worked correctly when setting up the 1st node. The support team connected to the nodes via remote maintenance and carried out the configuration. Now everything works perfectly.
Yes, that is possible. However, these repeaters are quite expensive, Swisscom currently sells the InternetBox 2 for 99.- (improved WLAN, 6 integrated antennas!), I would then take an Ubiqiti kit.
No, unfortunately this is not possible.
It works with the Swisscom router, however, it will not work for TV 2.0 over WiFi, according to Swisscom.
Velop can be connected to the Connect Box, but then the Connect Box must always be configured as a bridge, not the Velop system.
Yes, all nodes have 2 Ethernet ports. I have linked a switch via one of these to connect other devices. I cannot judge whether this also works with the Sunrise TV Box, but I assume that it does.
