I see no problem there. Otherwise, I'll buy the part back for you. However, as described in the article, you cannot necessarily operate 3 hard disks in parallel. That's why there is an additional 5V connection on the part for higher power consumption. USB 3.0 = Min 150mA - max. 900mA. In the future, USB 3.1 Type C = 100W. At 20V, that would be 5A!
Yes as pictured so approx. 10cm
Yes, as long as the 4 devices together do not require more power than the USB port on the front panel can supply. For example, with 4 external HDs it could be tight. Mouse, keyboard, USB sticks should be fine, though.
Hello LeonJo06. No, this Icy Box cannot be used as a charger. Only as a USB distributor and that works perfectly. As a charging station I bought the Icy Box icy box ib-ch501. https://www.raidsonic.de/products/accessories/powerbanks/IB-CH501/pdf/datasheet_IB-CH501_d.pdf and it works perfectly as a USB charging station.
This ICY BOX is a USB box like all other similar USB boxes, how long the delay lasts certainly depends on the performance of the two paired devices. In any case, I am very satisfied with this box.
The hub registers normally as a USB hub with the operating system and is then addressed. This means that a driver is already installed, but a standard operating system driver. No separate driver is needed, if that was the question.
Hi Jansimon I bought the part about 2 years ago and I have a connection for the power supply unit (as shown in the pictures).
No, you're not stupid, digitec really didn't specify the length :D http://www.raidsonic.de/de/standards/searchresults.php?we_objectID=737 On the manufacturer's product page, under Specifications -> Logistical data, the length of the HUB (only the slots) is given as 9cm, I assume from the pictures that the cable is then at most 10cm long. I hope I was able to help.
Hello raphicorrodi Yes, that is exactly how it is. You only need the 5V power supply when you connect things that need a lot of power (like an HDD). But the power supply is a standard connection. You might even have an old one at home (e.g. from an old router or something). Mice, keyboards and sticks should not be a problem. You can also connect your mobile phone to a port. It probably won't drain much when you use it, but it will charge very slowly. It would certainly work better with a power supply unit.
I use it with a suface pro 3. It works smoothly there. I am 99.99% sure that it will also work with the surface pro 4.
Hoi Izzy Yes there is. I think many hubs offered here unfortunately only mention this in a very hidden way. For example, the "TP-LINK USB 3.0 Hub" has a power adapter (it's in the specifications).
