Can you place this camera on a tripod and it automatically films moving people, riders, animals, i.e. it follows the movements of the object in focus?

The camera has two focus modes: "Specified Frame AF" and "Face Tracking AF". The latter is activated by default and recognises people's faces. Animals or other objects cannot be used. You can find more information in this video: Canon PowerShot V10 Tutorial - Autofocus

I have now read in several reviews that the camera constantly switches off after 20-30min due to overheating and is therefore not suitable for longer recordings (of 1h). Can anyone here confirm this? Does this also happen at lower resolutions?

I use it regularly, I can't confirm that it overheats, but it switches off after one round of recording. I record my podcasts with it. And the battery doesn't last very long either
