Polymaker Polydissolve S1 PVA (Polyvinyl Alcohol) is a water-soluble support material that is typically processed as a secondary material with a dual-extruder 3D printer. The Chinese premium filament manufacturer Polymaker has developed a particularly high-quality PVA filament that works exceptionally well in combination with PLA, TPU, PVB (PolySmooth), and Nylon (PA) filaments. PolyDissolve S1 offers greater design freedom. Complex models and geometries that were previously impossible can now be realized with the PVA filament. The support structures do not need to be removed manually, as they dissolve completely in tap water. The wash water can then be poured into any drain connected to a wastewater treatment plant. Since PVA is water-soluble, the printing material must be stored in a dry environment. Humidity can degrade the filament, making it unprintable. Therefore, we recommend using a Polymaker Polybox for proper storage.
Applications for Polymaker PVA: PVA filaments are commonly used for 3D prints with complex geometries where flawless surface quality is required. The filament is frequently used for design prototypes and display pieces. In particular, architectural models or complex representations in mechanical engineering are often difficult and complicated to achieve with FDM 3D printing. Hobbyists also use the material for detailed figures or models. The PVA greatly facilitates post-processing and enables components that would not have been possible before.
