Product details
Planet FT-80x is a Fast Ethernet bridge that converts 100BASE-FX fiber to 10/100BASE-TX shielded twisted pair (STP). It supports both half-duplex and full-duplex operations, along with various fiber options. The converter automatically adapts to the highest performance level supported by the device connected to the STP port. If the device is a switch or workstation that supports full duplex, the converter operates in full-duplex mode, providing an effective 200 Mbps bandwidth. If the connected device is a hub or a workstation that only supports half duplex, the converter switches to half-duplex mode, delivering a nominal 100 Mbps bandwidth. An override switch allows for manual control over the half/full-duplex operation in the fiber-optic interface. The fiber port operates at 1310 nm and is compatible with ST, SC, MTRJ, VF45, or WDM connectors. Multi-mode models support distances up to 2 km, while single-mode models support distances of 15, 20, 35, 50, or 60 km.
The FT-80x series features Link Fault Pass-through (LFP) functionality with a DIP switch design. The LFP function can immediately alert administrators to link media issues and provides an efficient solution for network monitoring. The DIP switch allows for enabling or disabling the LFP function.
Link Loss Carry Forward (LLCF) means that when a device is connected to the converter and the twisted pair line loses the link, the converter's fiber will disconnect the transmit link. Link Loss Return (LLR) means that when a device is connected to the converter and the fiber line loses the link, the converter will disconnect the transmit link. Both functions can promptly notify administrators of link media problems and enhance network monitoring efficiency.
