Conventional image sensors receive light through a matrix of red, green, and blue filters, with each pixel capturing only one color component. To create a black and white image, traditional cameras must perform interpolation, converting color data into monochrome data. In contrast, the new exclusive monochrome image sensor captures only luminosity information received by each pixel, producing exquisite black and white images with higher resolution and finer gradations without interpolation. To optimize the quality of black and white images, the camera is equipped with a specialized monochrome CMOS image sensor, excluding an anti-aliasing (AA) filter, with approximately 25.73 megapixels (effective) in APS-C format. This makes the camera ideal for astrophotography as well.
