The MB-D17 is a multifunction grip that extends the battery life of compatible Nikon digital SLR cameras when not connected to a power source.

The multifunction grip also allows for more comfortable handling of the camera during portrait orientation shots. It features additional controls for portrait shooting, such as a shutter release, a multifunction selector, and an AF-ON button, as well as an extra front and rear control wheel. It enables power supply to the camera via an additional Nikon EN-EL15 lithium-ion battery or six standard AA batteries. With the optional BL-5 battery compartment cover, the MB-D17 can also be powered by Nikon EN-EL18/EN-EL18a lithium-ion batteries.
