Product details

The ICF-1150 serial-to-fibre converters transfer RS-232/RS-422/RS-485 signals to fibre optic connections to increase transmission distance. When an ICF-1150 device receives data from any serial port, it transmits the data via the fibre optic ports. These products support single-mode and multi-mode fibre optics for different transmission distances, and models with isolation protection are available to enhance interference immunity. The ICF-1150 products offer three-way communication and a rotary switch for setting the pull high/low resistance for on-site installation.

The ICF-1150 series supports two serial ports with a DB9 connector for RS-232 communication and a detachable terminal block for RS-422 or RS-485 communication. The three ports (two serial ports and one fibre optic port) are completely independent of each other. When an ICF-1150 converter receives data from one of the ports, it sends the data via the other two ports. For example, when the ICF-1150 converter receives a command from the remote master via the fibre optic port, it converts the signal and sends the command via the RS-232 and RS-422/485 ports simultaneously. If the user is monitoring a system running on an RS-485 network, no additional RS-232 to RS-485 converter is required to connect the laptop's serial port to the RS-485 bus.

The RS-485 interface supports multidrop or daisy chain connections, which system engineers use to connect serial devices such as counters, RTUs, and readers to the same bus. As the number of serial devices on the same bus increases the impedance of the data line, the ICF-1150 allows the user to set the pull high/low resistance. The switch can be turned to the appropriate value without removing the ICF-1150 from the DIN rail.
