Microsoft Quake
Xbox Series X, Xbox One X, Xbox One S, Xbox Series SProduct details
Quake is a first-person shooter developed by id Software in 1996 and is the first game in the Quake series. Players must navigate through various labyrinthine and fortress-like environments while battling a variety of monsters, for which they have access to an extensive arsenal of weapons. As a successor to id's Doom series, Quake is based in many ways on the technology and gameplay of its predecessor. However, unlike the Doom engine, the Quake engine offered full real-time 3D rendering and support for 3D acceleration through OpenGL. After Doom had already significantly contributed to the rising popularity of multiplayer deathmatches, Quake introduced a number of new multiplayer options. Online multiplayer matches became increasingly popular, while the QuakeWorld update and software like QuakeSpy made finding and connecting with online opponents much easier and more reliable. Additionally, various multiplayer mods such as Team Fortress and Capture the Flag were developed.
