The CAN-CR220 repeater with two CAN channels serves to provide galvanic isolation between two segments of a CAN network and offers a very high galvanic isolation of 3 kV, making it suitable for use in medical applications. It can be used to increase the load capacity of the CAN bus with nodes, for the physical coupling of CAN bus systems, or to insert galvanic isolation. The CAN repeater provides the necessary flexibility to optimize the structure of CAN networks and frees CAN networks from the limitations of bus structure. It isolates a faulty segment from the rest of the network, allowing the remaining network to continue functioning. Once the fault is resolved, the segment is automatically reconnected to the network. The galvanic isolation is implemented for both the CAN segments and the power supply, reliably enhancing the protection of the device against damage to the electronics caused by voltage spikes. The CAN-CR220 is tested according to DIN/EN 50178.
