Intel Virtual RAID on CPU (Intel VROC) is a hybrid RAID solution specifically designed for NVMe SSDs that are directly connected to the CPU. Intel VROC is enabled by the CPU feature Intel Volume Management Device (Intel VMD), a hardware architecture on Intel Xeon scalable processors. Intel VMD expands the existing 48 PCIe lanes for reliable NVMe connections. Intel VROC utilizes Intel VMD for a simpler RAID solution that requires no additional hardware. It offers compelling RAID performance that unleashes the full potential of NVMe drives.
