The HPE Smart Storage Battery is a low-halogen lithium-ion battery that serves as a central backup source to secure the write cache contents to the flash memory of the HPE Smart Array Gen10 and Gen9 Performance RAID controllers in the event of an unplanned server power failure. The battery also acts as a backup power source for HPE NVDIMMs, allowing all data in DRAM to be transferred to non-volatile NAND flash. Only one battery is required per server, as it can support multiple devices.
