The HPE Smart Array P408i-a SR Gen10 Controller is a RAID controller suitable for large enterprises that offers improved performance for messaging, database, or general server applications. When connected to internal storage units with 12 Gb/s, it enables SAS connections at 12 Gb/s on HPE ProLiant Gen10 servers.

It enhances performance with a 2 GB flash-backed write cache, reducing latency for write-intensive applications that require extensive logging, such as databases.

The controller improves performance in storage environments where data is repeatedly read from a large number of solid-state drives. HPE SSD Smart Path is utilized to create a faster I/O path between the controller and the solid-state drive.

With HPE Smart Array SR SmartCache (optional license), you can accelerate data access in disk environments by moving active data into cache storage on solid-state drives.
