HPE OS Boot Devices provide enterprise customers with turnkey, fail-safe boot solutions that easily segregate the operating system from the data storage layer in today's operating systems for virtualised environments - VMware, Linux, Windows. An HPE NS204i-u is a universal hot-pluggable boot drive for operating system installation that contains two 480 GB M.2 NVMe SSDs. The universal installation eliminates the need for cables and backplanes. This device does not require a PCIe slot and automatically creates a RAID 1 volume. The HPE NS204i-p and NS204i-d NVMe OS boot devices are self-contained boot solutions in simple, pre-configured PCIe cards and the HPE Synergy option requires no GUI or user setup. These plug-and-play OS boot devices include two 480 GB M.2 SSDs that allow customers to mirror the operating system through hardware RAID-1. The HPE NS204i-p and NS204i-d NVMe OS boot devices provide up to 4x faster read capacity than legacy SATA-based boot solutions based on NVMe.
