In HPE Gen10 servers, the HPE Smart Hybrid Capacitor serves as a centralized backup power source that supports multiple controllers. The NAND flash memory on the HPE Smart Array Performance Class controllers and the HPE Smart Hybrid Capacitor work together to store cached data in the event of an unexpected power failure of the server. When the hybrid capacitor module detects a power loss, it keeps critical parts of the controller active long enough to allow data from the integrated controller cache to be copied to the flash memory.
