The HP Smart Array P441 Controller is a compact SAS RAID controller with 12 Gbit/s and PCIe3 x8, providing enterprise-class storage performance, greater external scalability, and data protection features for select HP ProLiant Gen9 rack and tower servers. It is equipped with eight external physical connections and offers higher server availability by providing advanced storage features, including online migration to RAID levels (between any RAID levels) with Flash-Backed Write Cache (FBWC), global online spare, and proactive alerts.

This controller includes location-independent FBWC, allowing data in the cache to be migrated to a new controller. The Gen9 controller family supports HP Smart Storage batteries.

With HP Smart Storage batteries, multiple Smart Array Controllers are supported without the need for additional backup power supplies for each controller, simplifying the upgrade process.
