Product details
Hans Christian Andersen (1805 - 1875) is the most famous poet and writer from Denmark. He gained fame through his numerous fairy tales. Andersen adapted folk tales until they met his literary standards and could be understood by children. Drawing on Danish, German, and Greek legends as well as historical events, connected to popular beliefs and inspired by the literary movements of his time, Andersen created the most significant art fairy tales of the Biedermeier period. Andersen's fairy tales are not only timeless; they have become part of world literature. This edition from 1853 is illustrated with 125 black-and-white images based on original drawings by B. Petersen. It is a reprint of the original edition from 1853.
