Firecrest ND is a revolutionary new type ND filter from Formatt-Hitech. Instead of colored resin, Firecrest ND uses a rare earth metal, which creates ultra neutral ND filters.
These circular ND filters are made of Schott Superwhite glass and are mounted in stackable 5.5 mm SuperSlim rings. The Firecrest ND filters are water-repellent, anti-reflective and extremely flare resistant. This increases contrast and visual sharpness in difficult lighting situations.
ND filters reduce the amount of light and allow effects such as transfigured waterfalls and streams, shallow water effects from the sea or lakes, streaky clouds and motion blur in sports photography. They are also used in long exposures, for example to make people disappear in public places.
