Emmi Cox is for all adventurous children of primary school age with a thirst for knowledge, girls and boys alike. Emmi Cox is a spice detective. As soon as she, mostly by chance, gets closer to a spice, she suddenly finds herself in the country of origin or even the main country of production of a certain spice. Spices are being researched in faraway countries: Where exactly do they grow? What do the spice plants look like? How are the spices harvested and processed? What are spices used for?

The special thing about the Emmi Cox books is that they are bilingual. The adventure story is told in two languages, German and English, in parallel. The story is followed by a non-fiction section that provides lots of in-depth information about the spice, its country of origin, and some recipe ideas, always in German and English. Boys and girls especially enjoy the explorer's diary and like to identify with the self-confident protagonist. Stranger things are not seen as good or bad, but as different and interesting. The books combine different areas of knowledge, which not least makes networked learning and thus cross-functional use in school possible.
