Product details
The Swiss Conrad Ferdinand Meyer (1825-1898) is, alongside his compatriot Gottfried Keller, the most significant realistic author of the German-speaking Switzerland in the 19th century. Throughout his life, the author, who also emerged as a lyricist, suffered from severe depression, which culminated in a semi-conscious state in his final years. The Swiss literary scholar Adolf Frey (1855-1920) places the author's psychological issues at the center of his biography and examines their influence on the poet's work. This is a reprint of the first edition published in Stuttgart in 1900.
