How just can a world be in the climate crisis? Climate change does not affect us all equally. Friederike Otto provides concrete examples based on eight extreme weather events, illustrating the real causes, who is particularly affected, and, most importantly, what climate justice truly means and what still needs to be done for it. Climate change does not destroy humanity, but it does take lives and livelihoods. We marvel at record temperatures, wind speeds, and rainfall amounts, but we ask too little about who is particularly exposed, who cannot recover, and why. Inequality and injustice are at the core of what makes climate change a global problem. Therefore, fairness and global justice must also be at the heart of the solution. Climate justice concerns everyone.
