Clearpath Robotics Turtlebot 4 - Official ROS 2.0 Research Platform
iRobot Create 3 Platform
Ubuntu 20.04 & ROS Noetic
SLAMTEC RPLiDAR
Luxonis DepthAI 3D Camera
The Turtlebot 4 is produced by Clearpath Robotics in Canada and operates as the official ROS 2.0 development platform under the OSRF (Open Source Robotics Foundation). Like the Turtlebot 1, this robot is also based on an iRobot chassis, known as the Create 3 platform.
Like its predecessors, the new TB4 is delivered with a comprehensive software base that aims to provide a quick and easy entry into ROS, particularly the ROS 2.0 framework. This allows for a complete SLAM and navigation stack, as well as benefiting from a very good Gazebo simulation. As a result, fewer Turtlebots can be used for teaching at the beginning, as theoretical content can initially rely on the simulation environment.
Differences Between Turtlebot 4 Lite & Pro
The three main differences between the TB4 Pro and the TB4 Lite are as follows:
The TB4 Lite is a kit, while the TB4 Pro is delivered fully assembled.
The TB4 Lite uses an OAK-D Lite, whereas the TB4 Pro uses an OAK-D Pro - the SLAMTEC LiDAR is integrated into both platforms.
TB4 plates for the assembly or mounting of additional equipment.
