This infrared filter blocks all visible light, appearing completely black, and allows for pure infrared photography without any visible red. The transmission only exceeds 1% at 800 nm, rising to 88% at 900 nm and remaining significantly above the sensitivity threshold of infrared films. Due to the lower film sensitivity utilization, this filter is less commonly used in artistic photography; however, in scientific fields, material research, and forensic science, the restriction to the pure IR range is often crucial.
