His alter ego is "Mr. Lehmann," and anyone who has ever picked up a phone book knows that this name is not unique. Far more unusual is the story of "Mr. Lehmann," which took place in 1989/90. The man stumbles, falters, groans, and drinks his way through a present that has abandoned the familiar ground beneath him. "Capitalism is the sum of humanity's bad character traits," Mr. Lehmann angrily declares. He adds, "Since their brains overflowed like filthy latrines, they couldn't smell the stench of capitalism." "Mr. Lehmann" is not really a gentleman but a punk who spews out what he thinks. The end of East Germany completely throws him off course. The old order collapses, and with the new one comes immorality. "Mr. Lehmann" mercilessly passes judgment and ultimately proves unable to cope even with familiar behaviors.
