The XD5-40d is a 4-inch (118 mm) mid-level direct thermal desktop barcode printer and label printer that offers a compact foldable design and comprehensive software features. It is ideally suited for labeling applications in manufacturing, transportation and logistics, retail, and healthcare. The XD5-40d is available in resolution options of XD5-40d (203 dpi) and XD5-43d (300 dpi). The standard model of the XD5-40d provides fast data processing and print speeds of up to 7 ips (178 mm/sec) with an expanded memory of up to 256 MB SDRAM and 256 MB Flash.

Accompanied by a field-installable peeler, an automatic cutter, and an external paper feed, the label printer offers an optional visual LCD display, an adjustable paper cutter, and space for a media roll diameter of up to 127 mm. It is complemented by Smart Media Detection™, which allows for automatic recognition of media formats with gaps, black marks, continuous or notched media, all standard with a 2-year warranty.

The XD5-40d supports multiple connectivity options and comes standard with dual USB 2.0 and USB Host. Additionally, optional dual Wi-Fi, dual Bluetooth, serial, or Ethernet connections are available. The USB Host port enables the duplication of existing printer settings and data to other printers on the network through the Twin Function™. The XD5-40d is compatible with leading programming languages such as SLCS™, BPL-Z™, and BPL-E™. The printer is accompanied by extensive firmware and software options, including BIXOLON's XPM™ web-based printer profile management and Simple Network Management Protocol (MIB file), as well as compatibility with label design software like BIXOLON's Label Artist-II™ and BarTender®.
