Apollons Leier

The epigram in its classical form of the elegiac distich has a long and significant tradition in Germany since the Classical period. However, its importance diminished with the decline of humanistic education. The volume "Apollon's Lyre" connects to this tradition. The collection of 269 epigrams is the most extensive after Goethe's and Schiller's "Xenien" and is notably remarkable for its depiction of a yearly cycle. All types of epigrams are represented, including representational, paradigmatic, satirical, erotic, and so on.
