With the Anybus Communicator CAN, you can integrate CAN-based field devices into a PROFIBUS network without any modifications to the serial device. The Anybus Communicator CAN is a proven and reliable protocol converter that connects non-networked devices supporting CAN-based protocols with PROFIBUS. The Communicator performs intelligent protocol conversion and makes the CAN data available to the master PLC as I/O data. It is a compact stand-alone gateway for IP20 and DIN rail mounting, requiring a 24-volt power supply. It meets the current PROFIBUS specification and has been successfully tested for network compatibility.
Typical applications include frequency converters, sensors, actuators, operator terminals, barcode readers, RFID readers, or industrial scales.
Features and benefits: Machine builders and equipment manufacturers do not need a PROFIBUS interface in their devices. It enables system integrators to incorporate older CAN-based automation devices into PROFIBUS networks (retrofitting). No hardware or software changes are required for the automation device. The Communicator is compatible with all PLCs that support PROFIBUS. There is a complete conversion of the CAN protocol without the need for additional PLC function blocks. CAN frames can be flexibly defined for query/response and produce/consume protocols. Due to the intelligent I/O data mapping in the Communicator, devices with slow CAN communication can also be integrated into the master network. Qualified personal support is offered.
