Breaking away from traditions. Little Bilija grows up in a rural area of Serbia. Her family is very protective of her but imposes strict norms: she should not attend school unnecessarily and should marry young. Nevertheless, Bilija fights for her education at a business school and later studies economics. While working in retail, she encounters a former classmate who has always meant a lot to her. They marry. Bilija builds a house and starts her own business. She fights for the success and prosperity of her family. However, under the influence of the Yugoslav Wars, her happiness is shaken. Bilija emigrates to Frankfurt, where she struggles to finance her children's education. There, she discovers painting as a form of expression and a purpose in life.
