The Thoth Tarot was painted by the artist Lady Frieda Harris (1877–1962) under the guidance of the famous occultist Aleister Crowley (1875–1947). Although Lady Harris knew very little about tarot and its symbolism, she sensitively captured all the nuances in her paintings. Numerous cards were painted in several versions until they finally received Crowley's approval. The Crowley Thoth Tarot was first published in German in 1986. Since then, there have been several special editions in various formats. For this current reissue, the image data has undergone further reviews and slight corrections to ensure the highest fidelity to the original paintings. Additionally, some card names in the German translation have been corrected, and the booklet has been revised and expanded. To adapt this world-renowned and popular deck to modern viewing habits, it is being released with a redesigned cover.
