The EKI-2541M/2541S has been developed to convert Ethernet networks into fiber optic networks by transparently converting Ethernet signals into optical signals. The advantages of fiber optics include high bandwidth, immunity to EMI, and transmission over long distances, making the EKI-2541M/2541S an ideal solution for "Fiber to Building" applications in central offices or local sites. The EKI-2541M/2541S supports automatic MDI/MDIX detection, so you do not need to use crossover cables. Additionally, the EKI-2541M/2541S can operate normally from -10 to 60 °C and accepts a wide voltage range of 12 to 48 VDC. It also provides surge protection of 3,000 VDC (EFT), making it suitable for harsh operating environments. The Link Fault Pass-Through (LFP) feature makes the EKI-2541M/2541S an advanced Ethernet-to-fiber converter. In addition to standard functions, the versatile EKI-2541M/2541S also includes the LFP function. If one side of the connection fails, the other side continues to send packets and waits for a response that never arrives from the disconnected side. Use the internal jumper to activate the LFP function, then the EKI-2541M/2541S will force the connection to shut down as soon as it detects that the other connection has failed, allowing the application software to respond to the situation.
