The EKI-2541M/2541S is designed for the transparent conversion of Ethernet networks into fiber optic networks. The advantages of fiber optics include high bandwidth, immunity to electromagnetic interference (EMI), and long-distance transmission. Therefore, the EKI-2541M/2541S is ideal for fiber-to-building applications in central offices or local sites. These converters support automatic MDI/MDIX detection, eliminating the need for crossover cables. Additionally, they can typically operate at temperatures ranging from -10 to 60 °C and accept a wide voltage range of 12 to 48 VDC. They also feature 3,000 VDC (EFT) surge protection, making them well-suited for harsh operating environments. The EKI-2541M/2541S are advanced Ethernet to fiber converters. In addition to their standard features, these versatile converters also offer link fault bypass. If one side of the connection fails, the other side continues to transmit packets and waits for a response that never arrives from the disconnected side. However, the EKI-2541M/2541S enforces a shutdown of the connection as soon as the failure is detected, allowing the application software the opportunity to address the issue.
