Adafruit NeoPixel FeatherWing 4x8 RGB LED Add-on

A Feather board without ambition is a Feather board without FeatherWings! This is the NeoPixel FeatherWing, a 4x8 RGB LED add-on for all Feather boards! With our Feather stackable headers or Feather female headers, you can attach a FeatherWing to the top or bottom of your Feather board and make it shine like a peacock at a rave.

Put on your sunglasses before diving into these 32 configurable, eye-catching RGB LEDs. Arranged in a 4x8 matrix, each pixel is individually addressable. Only one pin is required to control all the LEDs. On the underside, we have jumpers for the DIN line to one of the I/O pins on a Feather board. You can cut the standard jumper and use any pin you like. (In particular, the standard pin for Feather Huzzah ESP8266 needs to be moved, try pin #15!)

To facilitate an easy start, the LEDs are powered by either the USB power supply or the battery power supply by default, depending on which is higher. Two Schottky diodes are used to switch between the two. This power arrangement can handle 1 amp constant current draw and maybe 2A peak, so it's not a good way to make a flashlight. It's better for colorful effects.

A level-up shifter converts the 3.3V logic of the Feather to the logic level. If you need to blink more, for example, you can connect them together. For the second wing, connect the DIN pin to the DOUT of the first wing. Also, connect a ground pin together and power it with an independent 5V supply to avoid overloading the power supply.
