Does this fit my Canon 760D and can I photograph stars with it with appealing quality?

Dear user of the Canon EOS 760D

I would like to answer your question as to how I was able to gain experience with my wide-angle lens for astrophotography as follows. My Canon 16-35mm 1:4 L IS USM lens is in principle also suitable for astrophotography, but in the case of your Canon EOS 760D you have to reckon with the crop factor of approx. 1.6, which means that 16mm may suddenly be 20mm, but nevertheless the lens delivers a very good image quality. There are also no problems with the connection to your camera. As soon as there is a red dot on the bayonet shutter of the camera, EF and EF-S lenses can be connected. I photographed the starry sky in August with my EOS 5D Mark IV and said lens, but I am not satisfied with my result. This is not due to the camera, but to the enormous light pollution in our latitudes, unless you go to a lonely mountain region. What can also help is the use of the Rollei Astro Klar filter. With it, you can reduce light pollution to some extent. Unfortunately, the filter is not available in Switzerland. I had to order the filter from a specialist shop in Constance and it worked out perfectly. There are various instructions on the internet on YOUTUBE, it is worth having a look. Again, it's not the lens, it's the annoying environmental influences even in smaller communities. In the hope that this experience report has helped you, I wish you good light at all times or, as in your example, absolute darkness.

Kind regards
