According to the product description, this docking station can be used universally or for other brands. This seems rather strange to me, especially since all other variants of this docking station are compatible exclusively with HP notebooks. Is the above info correct or is it misinformation?

I have already had a lot to do with various docking stations, cables etc.. Whenever they said it was compatible, it always went wrong for me. Only believe it when you have plugged in the cable yourself and it works. Before that, NO, it doesn't work! Sometimes it even worked for me and then suddenly gave up the ghost after a week.
