Good ultrawide but overpriced at Digitec

I'm a FPS player so my expectations for a monitor in terms of performance are very high.
I can say that this monitor check all the boxes. It's fast, responsive, no tearing, no black smearing and no ghosting and great colors.
It's
not an overclocked 60Hz panel, this one is a true 100Hz panel so that also makes a difference.

Needs prior calibration since the colors may be a bit saturated in some modes, so I chose the custom 1 setting and set the monitor to:
Brightness: 22
Contrast: 50
Color Temperature: User Define with Gamma at 2 and RGB at 100, 98, 97.

I also used a windows color profile I managed to get from the site TFTCentral under Resources and on the section ICC Profiles and Monitor Settings Database.

In Doom Eternal and Battlefield 5, comparing to other 144hz monitors I already tested, this one performs the same. The VA panel allows the colors really to stand out on games. And the blacks are blacks, not dark grey, so for someone like me that plays Doom will notice the difference.

However the monitor is a bit overpriced on Galaxus/Digitec. It's a 2018 model with Freesync, not Freesync pro or premium since it only has 100Hz. The build quality is OK but not inline with monitors like Dell Alienware that cost a bit more than this monitor. Also it's not an HDR 400 monitor since it only has 300 nits of brightness and it falls short to the HDR 400 norm.

Still it performs outstandingly and if Digitec lowers the price to 600 CHF, then it's a perfect buy.

Pro

  • Outstanding performance
  • Good color accuracy after calibration
  • Great contrast and deep blacks with no glow or white light bleed
  • No tearing or ghosting in FPS and also no smearing I ever noticed
  • Freesync really works well even bellow 48 FPS

Contra

  • Outdated price since it's a monitor from March 2018. This should be a 600 CHF monitor
  • Only 100 Hz and the market already has 144Hz for a lower price
  • Only 300 nit of brightness, so not a HDR monitor
  • Menu buttons instead of a joystick
