With the fixie to Morocco #7: Land in sight!
by Jonathan Perraudin und Christoph Zuidema
What do two young photography apprentices do during their winter holidays? They pack their bags and set off to discover the Far North. A journey through powder snow in the middle of summer, exclusively from Galaxus.
Flashback: last summer, Christoph and Jonathan, two ETH students, travelled from Geneva to Morocco with the single speed of the Huber family. Their blog is an incredible source of entertainment. From overnight stays in dodgy establishments to wild bulls, it's all there:
Arthur and Jannik must surely have read this blog. They're both studying photography at an art school in Zurich and heard a rumour that wacky ideas are much appreciated at Galaxus. The pair sent us the following request at the end of last year:
We've been planning a 15-day trip to Norway's Saltfjellet-Svartisen National Park for several weeks. The starting point for our little expedition is Bolna railway station, located on the edge of the national park. From there, we'll be able to spend 15 days exploring the north of the region with our tent, some food and a camera so that we can document our adventures. Among other things, we'd like to be able to capture photos of wolverines, polar foxes, Eurasian lynx (or boreal lynx), reindeer, as well as several species of bird.
They continue:
Would you be prepared to provide us with two pairs of snowshoes for the duration of our trip?
Yes, we were. In fact, we decided to provide Arthur and Jannik with snowshoes, but also sleeping bags, a GPS, and more. In return, they had to give us the gift of their logbook with photos.
Over the next few weeks, Galaxus will be bringing you an exclusive look at what Arthur and Jannik experienced in February in Northern Norway. A short trip to the Arctic Circle, ideal for a virtual refresher. For more cool stories, click here. Subscribe to my profile to make sure you don't miss (almost) anything.
From radio journalist to product tester and storyteller, jogger to gravel bike novice and fitness enthusiast with barbells and dumbbells. I'm excited to see where the journey'll take me next.
