These four sand toys must be taken to the beach
Toys are a must on a family trip to the beach. The choice is certainly not easy for you or your child - but you should definitely have these four toys with you for the little castle builders.
If it were up to my son, we would take a whole Ikea bag full of sand toys with us on every trip to the seaside: 13 different diggers, four buckets, three rakes that nobody plays with and a broken shovel that he then fights with his brother over. But instead of being spoilt for choice every time, I've now drawn up a list for him: with the sand toys that we really need every time we go to the beach and are therefore guaranteed to be allowed to take with us.
1. the bucket
Your children are guaranteed to have lots of fun at the beach with a bucket - for transporting various treasures. Not only do they need it to build the biggest sandcastles, but also to build a dam, their own lake and other muddy activities: With the bucket, your kids can transport water back and forth en masse at any time. My favourite is our folding bucket, which can be flattened and saves a lot of space for getting even more stuff into the car. Of course, it's also a huge plus if the bucket already has a castle shape.
2. the right bucket
Of course, a shovel is just as important - but not the cute pink one that looks like an ice cream scoop. As a parent, you absolutely need a large shovel with a long handle at the beach, otherwise you'll end up with back pain in the evening. Well, at least if you're my age. But with a long shovel that doesn't require you to bend over unnecessarily, you'll have the strength to spend several hours building fantastic rivers from the sea to the knight's castle with your little ones. And as a rule of thumb: at least one per child and parent. Otherwise there will only be arguments.
3. the powerful vehicle
Maybe not exactly 13 in number, but at least one transport vehicle should come along on a visit to the beach. The shovel excavator makes castle building a real experience and a tipper lorry can transport both the required cement and water.
4. the right sand moulds
Once the castle has been built, it can be decorated: Shells and sticks collected on the beach look particularly pretty. Depending on how big the whole thing is, you can also build your own shapes with your children. And for very young beach visitors, these shapes are a must anyway.
Always have a bucket, shovel, moulds and a vehicle with you. All other sand toys can, but don't have to, be taken to the sea or lake. Happy castle building!
