These are the hidden book recommendations from "And Just Like That".

I expected fashion statements in the "Sex and the City" sequel. But not with secret book recommendations. Unfortunately, you'll have to look pretty damn closely to find out which books Carrie Bradshaw reads in the series. A look through the reading magnifying glass.
Don't worry, this article contains no spoilers.
I could have watched "And Just Like That" - the sequel to the hit series "Sex and the City" - comfortably on the sofa with a bucket of popcorn in my arms. But I didn't. Instead, I took an arduous path and sat tensely in my office chair for several hours while staring at the screen with narrowed eyes. Index finger ready to click on the left mouse button. Pause. Rewind. Play. Pause. I alternately tilted my head to the side, diligently taking notes and surprising myself in between with successful detective work. Pause. Rewind. Play. Pause. This went on for the whole ten episodes. And for what? Let me elaborate.
Books are Carrie's new accessories
Attentive fans of the series might not have missed the fact that protagonist Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) flaunts a lot of books in the new episodes of the series, in addition to strikingly staged fashion. I would even go so far as to say that she makes them her new accessory. As a former columnist and book author, Carrie's love of reading should come as no surprise to viewers. But in fact, we get to see more literary works in the ten episodes than in all the old episodes (94) and movies (2) combined. The books are not only on Carrie's numerous bookshelves. They are also piled up on the floor, on the night and coffee tables, on her stool, on dressers, in her handbags, and occasionally she even carries them around in her arms. In short, they're everywhere.

Intentionally, as Michael Cory - the series' prop master - reveals in an interview with Vogue. All the books in the series were chosen in close collaboration with the scriptwriters and actresses. For the character Carrie alone, more than 120 books are said to have been collected. They are anything but minor props but, if you will, recommendations from a literary savvy fictional character.
While individual titles are mentioned by name in the series, others tend to remain in the background. I made it my mission to identify as many titles as possible from the second group. Clues were cover colors, fonts, blurred title fragments and possible letter combinations, which led me via Google search and numerous detours to the right work in each case. The result of my work? A list of books I've never read myself, but are now on my to-read list.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
