The Super Nintendo Classic Mini arrives in September

Nostalgia fans, rejoice! At the end of September, Nintendo is releasing a new version of the Super Nintendo, with 20 of the greatest classics in SNES history and a surprise game pre-installed.
The rumours are true: after the success of the NES Classic Mini, Nintendo is also releasing a cute little Super Nintendo. The SNES Classic Mini is due for release on September 29, with 20 of the best-loved games of the era expected to come pre-installed - plus one bonus game. That should be enough to quench your retro thirst. Unlike the NES Classic Mini, the SNES comes straight with two gamepads. This time, their cable would apparently be a little longer than that of the predecessor (in German). We'll see if that's enough.
The following games are preinstalled:
- Contra III The Alien Wars (European title: Super Probotector: Alien Rebels)
- Donkey Kong Country
- EarthBound
- Final Fantasy III
- F-ZERO
- Kirby's Fun Pack
- Kirby's Dream Course
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - Mega Man X
- Secret of Mana
- Star Fox (European title: Starwing)
- Star Fox 2
- Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting - Super Castlevania IV
- Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario Kart - Super Mario Kart
- Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Super Mario World
- Super Mario World - Super Metroid - Super Punch-Out
- Yoshi's Island
Yes, you read that right. The previously unreleased (officially) Star Fox 2 will also be included. This will be unlocked once you've passed the first level of Star Fox 1. Admittedly, you'll get fewer games than with the NES Classic Mini - which had 30 games - but the choice isn't bad at all. And thanks to the second controller included in the package, you can throw turtle shells at your face in Super Mario Kart straight away.
The SNES Classic Mini connects to the TV via HDMI.

The US will have a slightly different version. The original SNES was a little different to ours. As a result, the Classic Mini also features this design. On the contrary, the Japanese version is just like the European version.
Availability, price and packaging
Nintendo has promised to have larger shipments than those made available for the NES Classic Mini. The near future will show whether this will be enough to fill the massive demand for the cult console from the 90s. Should the price drop, we'll also immediately adjust it for pre-orders.
We've also been able to find out about something that's come up regularly in your comments: the packaging. The SNES Classic Mini is delivered in an extra box to prevent the original packaging from being damaged.

As a child, I wasn't allowed to have any consoles. It was only with the arrival of the family's 486 PC that the magical world of gaming opened up to me. Today, I'm overcompensating accordingly. Only a lack of time and money prevents me from trying out every game there is and decorating my shelf with rare retro consoles.
