The 10 most unusual puzzle motifs

These puzzles stand out: particularly difficult, misshapen or just plain cheesy. These are the 10 most unusual puzzle motifs.

1. what does the motif look like?

Here you put together what people see in the picture instead of directly the motif on the packaging. Use your imagination and curiosity to find out what you have to puzzle here. After all, you'll find a few hints on the packaging to help you get started.

2. four-dimensional

This puzzle is not 2D, not 3D, it's 4D! You put the city together, build the buildings chronologically and tear them down again if necessary from a historical perspective. This happens, for example, with the World Trade Centre in the 4D puzzle of New York.

3. more than four corners

Puzzles don't have to be rectangular. The Silhouette line from Ravensburger proves this. This model features Mickey as both a motif and a shape. Accordingly, the puzzle does not have a round number of pieces.

4. big, bigger, biggest

With over 40,000 pieces, this puzzle is the largest in the world (approx. 680 x 192 cm). When put together, it covers an impressive 13 square metres and weighs around 20 kilograms. Ravensburger estimates 600 hours of puzzle fun for the 10 different motifs. Perseverance is required!

5th black hole

The black hole or simply a depressing puzzle? This model consists exclusively of black pieces. After all, there are only 96 of them, which should be doable.

6. puzzled shoe

Create your own shoe - a decorative shoe, of course. This sneaker is ideal as a stationery holder on your desk. Thanks to the practical inlay, you can also place little secrets in your new shoe.

7. brightly lit

The dragons on this puzzle glow in the dark. Yes, you read that right. Glow-in-the-dark puzzles are not just a phenomenon of the 90s. We have several such motifs in our range. The dragons and their wings are a particularly beautiful glow-in-the-dark motif.

8. if you like diamonds, you'll love it

At first glance, this is just a normal jigsaw puzzle with cheesy cute cupcakes on it. What makes it special: You place 45 decorative stones on the cupcakes after assembling them. You can use them to decorate the sweets as you wish. The puzzle won't glitter, it will shine.

9. the really cool motif

In the midst of flowers and landscapes, this is an unexpectedly cool motif. The puzzle is suitable for music fans and retro lovers alike.

10. monochrome is not monotonous

A lot of yellow and blue pieces don't make sorting and puzzling easy. But the Minions are not finished after just one day.

And we have even more puzzles that seem to consist of just one colour when put together. These motifs are suitable for anyone looking for a real challenge.

My tips

As a puzzle pro, you definitely need a puzzle mat. If you put the puzzle together on the mat, you can roll it up at any time and store it in a small space. This means it hardly takes up any space and doesn't get dusty. If you want to continue puzzling, simply unroll it again. The pieces are still put together.

The stackable sorting trays for puzzle pieces are also a practical aid. This allows you to put the sorted pieces away without them getting mixed up again.

And if you want to hang up the puzzle at the end and not take it apart again, it's best to fix it with the "Puzzle-Conserver Permanent" adhesive.

I love the strategy game “The Settlers of Catan”, the Ravensburger puzzle “Colourful Cupcakes” and the pink fluffy unicorn that sits on my desk (a birthday present from my workmates). Not only do I have a weakness for toys, I also get excited about good food and comedy TV shows.
