Tested by K-Tipp: Board games in comparison

K-Tipp has tested and rated new board games. I don't want to withhold the ratings and recommendations of the games from our range from you.
Mafia de Cuba
Similar to "Werwölfle", this game is played in a large group of 6 to 12 players. Accordingly, the most important conclusion from K-Tipp: "The fun of the game depends on the composition and mood of the player group." The story behind the game: A mafia godfather entrusts his valuable cigar box, which contains a compartment with diamonds, to his henchmen. Each player in turn receives the box and opens it. Either you become a traitor and steal diamonds or you remain an "honest" mafioso. When the godfather realises that his diamonds have disappeared, he tries to find out who is a thief by asking clever questions. Only those who manage to skilfully conceal their role in the round from the boss have a chance of winning.

7 Wonders - Duel
The strategy game 7 Wonders was voted Connoisseur Game of the Year in 2011. An equally good version for 2 players has now been released. K-Tipp explains that all actions in the game are carried out as a duel. "This means that confrontation is at the centre of the game." As you can easily imagine, this creates a "more dramatic feel to the game than the original." So if you know and love the original, this version will prove its worth.
Tumult Royal
In this turbulent game, players take on the role of nobles and try to build as many monuments as possible. This costs bread, marble and tools, which they steal from the people. Players only have 20 seconds in each round to do this. The conclusion of K-Tipp: "The game scores with an original mix of tactical building and hectic collecting." Unfortunately, according to K-Tipp, the game lacks some variety.
Codenames
This strategic game is basically about guessing terms in two teams. However, it can hardly be compared to Activity. "Codenames works in a pleasantly different way," praises K-Tipp. The two team leaders know the terms to be guessed and are allowed to give their team one clue per round. However, this only consists of one word. It is explained: "The appeal of the game lies in giving a clue in such a way that the other players can guess several terms at once." The game is skilfully made more difficult by a few, but ingenious rules. Accordingly, K-Tipp says: "Codenames is as challenging as it is entertaining. The game thrives on the ambiguity of the words." The following is also emphasised positively: "As no two games are the same, it's still fun even after many rounds."

I love the strategy game “The Settlers of Catan”, the Ravensburger puzzle “Colourful Cupcakes” and the pink fluffy unicorn that sits on my desk (a birthday present from my workmates). Not only do I have a weakness for toys, I also get excited about good food and comedy TV shows.
